Partnered Parishes in the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne
History
The Parish of Mentone was created in 1904, when the area encompassing Mentone, Parkdale, Cheltenham, Highett, Beaumaris, Sandringham, Mordialloc, Edithvale, and Chelsea was cut off from the “Brighton Mission”, which was ministered by priests at St James, Gardenvale.
In 1970 the Parkdale East section of Mentone Parish was formed into the new parish of St John Vianney, East Parkdale. However, the parishes later reunited.
On 1st January 2024 Mentone-Parkdale Parish partnered with Nazareth Parish, Ricketts Point (comprising Stella Maris, Beaumaris & St Joseph’s, Black Rock). The Partnered Parishes now include four churches.
